Production Begins of Heavy-Duty, Front-Mounted Broom

Roadtec, Inc. introduces a new 83 hp (62 kW) self-propelled broom. This is a new product line for the company and its first foray into compact construction equipment. Roadtec’s traditional product line of highway-class asphalt finishers and cold planers are known for rugged construction, and this new product keeps with this tradition. The FB-85 broom features 14,000 lbs (6,350 kg) of construction grade axle capacity, which is twice the strength of competing models.

New Training Center Opened to Customers for the First Time

The winter training season at Roadtec took place in the brand new training facility completed just in time for the first customer schools in January 2011. The 11,500 square foot (1,070 sq.meters) facility houses a state-of the art auditorium large enough for 100 people. It has been designed so that actual Roadtec product can be driven onto the stage. The new addition to the Roadtec facilty also includes a dining facility, a fully outfitted kitchen, and separate classrooms for specific courses.

Capital Paving takes Ontario Paver of the Year Award

Capital Paving Inc. won the prestigious 2006 Paver of the Year Award for work completed on Highway 403 in Mississauga, including one of the province’s first High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes. MTO Contract 2003-2012 extended from east of Highway 407, easterly to 0.3 km west of Highway 401. Capital was paving subcontractor to the Bot Construction Group on this 15.1 km long project, with mainline paving beginning in August 2004 and completed in August 2006. Asphalt paving included multiple lifts on the new eastbound and westbound HOV Lanes utilising SP25, SP19 and SP12.5 FC2 Superpave mixes, the resurfacing of existing Highway 403 lanes with SP19 and SP 12.5 FC2 lifts, as well as the resurfacing of all interchange ramps with SP12.5 FC2 mix.

“E” Series Shuttle Buggy® Material Transfer Vehicle to be Introduced at ConExpo

The premier asphalt remixing device, the Roadtec Shuttle Buggy, is being offered in an upgraded version. The new generation E-series Shuttle Buggy material transfer vehicle has enhanced conveyor wear resistance, which will lower contractors’ operating costs. A new adjustable width front hopper allows the E-series to work with trucks of widths commonly used in countries outside the U.S. The dual operator stations of the machine have been enhanced and can now slide sideways past the outer edge of the main frame, which improves visibility.
